Write Here Scribo Sandwood
The Write Here SCRIBO Sandwood is a piston filling fountain pen made for us by Scrittura Bolognese, direct descendants of OMAS. The design by Flaminia Angelone has not changed since the first edition in 2017. A cylinder, slightly tapering at cap and base, has a long and elegant section. Offering accommodation for those who like to grip close of far away from the nib. It offers a range of both 14ct flex and 18ct gold nibs. The body is resin, the cap screw-on and features the words “Write Here” and “Made in Italy” on the band. It has a strong and elegant clip. It does not post.
Only 30 numbered pieces are available.
The resin has a base pink-pearl colour, in which are flecks and swirls of brown and bright quartz-like highlights.
It is named for Sandwood Bay, possibly the most beautiful beach in the world – when blessed with sunshine. To get there, travel north past Inverness, Ullapool, Inchnadamph and Kylescu until you reach Kinlochbervie. Only a couple of miles more to Blairmore, where you park and walk a further 4 miles north on a clear path. You will arrive. at Sandwood Bay – a mile of magnificent beach, overlooked from the south by Am Buachaille, a 65 metre seastack. Behind the beach is a freshwater loch.
The name is of Viking origin, meaning “Sandwater” – a the Loch being a convenient place to pick up fresh water having just sailed round Cape Wrath, only a few miles to the north.
Watch out for the mermaid, last seen by Alexander Gunn on the 5th January 1900. Or look at for the engine of Flight Sergeant Michael Kilburn’s Spitfire, which crashed in 1941. It occasionally shows at low tide. Best of all, and far more certain, is the Machair in springtime.
Then go back to your hotel, bothy or lodge and write it all up with your Write Here SCRIBO Sandwood!
