The Visconti Homo Sapiens Evolution Oversized Fountain Pen follows on from the Homo Sapiens Elegance. The body is made of a deeply-polished black resin with palladium accompaniments, but the cap and section are stainless steel that has been electro-plated with ruthenium and given palladium highlights. Even without ground Etna lava of the earlier Homo Sapiens, this is a solid pen to hold and, with the steel cap, some may find writing with it posted gives too much weight at the top end.

Unlike its cousins in the Homo Sapiens family, the Evolution features a twist-lock cap.

The trim on the Visconti Homo Sapiens Evolution Oversize fountain pen is in ruthenium that is palladium plated. As well as the ‘Ponte Vecchio‘ arched-bridge clip, that says “Made in Italy”, section band and twin mid-cap bands, the Evolution features an ornate section, cap and barrel finial that are swirled with fine palladium waves. The Visconti Homo Sapiens Evolution Oversize fountain pen is filled by unscrewing the barrel and twisting the top of the plunger-filler. It is supplied with Visconti’s the beautifully-engraved 23kt palladium ‘DreamTouch’ nib, available in Fine, Medium and Broad, and Extra-Fine and 1.3 Stub, though there is an extra cost for these last two.
