Urushi lacquer on a large pen with a 21ct Gold Nib in medium.  The Sabinuri Urushi technique results in a rust-like finish – a texture  with a glowing, rather than shiny finish.

The Rei is larger than the 1911, longer and slightly slimmer than the King of Pen.

The Tsugaru Sabi Nuri fountain pen is crafted by Urushi master Hirokazu Shimamori using the the traditional technique from the Aomori Prefecture. Application of overlapping uneven layers of Urushi lacquer over the ebonite body give an effect similar to ancient rust – pleasingly tactile and evocative. The pen comes with an 21K gold nib.
