Sailor Commemorative Hiroshima Fountain Pen

The Sailor Commemorative Hiroshima Fountain Pen is a mid sized fountain pen based on the PG regular size.  It is a Cartridge Converter fountain pen featuring a medium 21ct gold nib. It is a very limited edition – the European market has been allocated only 40 pens. We have secured two  Barrel and cap are made from Chinese Juniper trees which were over 60 years old, The wood is noted for its warm tones and durability.  The tress were cut down as part of the redevelopment programme.

The pen celebrates the reconstruction of the factory.in Kure, Japan, where manufacturing of Sailor pens has taken place since 1939.  Many of the buildings were over seventy years old.  The site looked ramshackle in need of attention when, in an idle hour some years ago, I took a virtual tour of the streets around it, courtesy of Google Maps.  The sketch of the new building looks strikingly modern

Change is inevitable, but it must be hoped that the spirit of Mr Nagahara Nobuyoshi, Sailor’s celebrated nib maker who worked fro the company from 1949 to 2012, still inhabits the site.
