Pilot Custom 823 is a serious pen, weighing in at 30g.  Barrel and cap are made of translucent acrylic resin, with the cap finial, blind cap and cap finial being black.  Pilot Custom 823 is available in a blue black or brown colour.  There are substantial gold bands below cap finial and blind cap and on the cap band.  The clip ends with ball top protect your pocket.  It all comes together and looks impressive. High quality fountain pen, made in Japan. Comes in a very nice presentation box, with a bottle of ink. You can see the unboxing video below.

The 14 carat gold nib is marked as a number 15, equivalent to a European number 6 – it is a big nib.

The vacuum filling system is a strong selling point.  It is simple to use and gives an ink capacity of 2.2ml – enough for extended writing, when you will have to unscrew the end cap to release the piston, allowing ink to flow.  Conversely, when screwed tight no ink will flow, a great benefit when travelling.
