Featuring a convenient push button system to extend the 18ct gold nib, and an ingenious flap which closes to “cap” the pen and prevent the nib drying out, it was revolutionary at the time and remains the most successful and reliable retractable fountain pen.  The Pilot Capless Fountain Pen 2019 Limited Edition Tropical Turquoise comes complete with a converter fitted so bottled ink can be used, but the Pilot Namiki Cartridges can also be used if preferred.  (Please note that for the mechanism to work effectively, the metal cap, which is supplied must be placed over the cartridge.)
