Onoto Magna Classic Blue & Gold Fittings with Chasing

The Onoto Magna Classic blue & gold fittings with chasing is made of an extremely durable acrylic resin, to a design reminiscent of the original Onoto Magna, first produced in 1937, that Onoto say is one of the most famous pens ever made. That original Magna was a plunger-filler, but this latest version has replaced the old technology with a cartridge / converter that is probably more to modern taste. The blue resin cap and barrel of the Magna Classic are beautifully engine-turned with a barleycorn chasing that provides such a striking appearance to this luxurious writing instrument. The barrel retains a small, plain rectangle that bears the “ONOTO the PEN” and “Made in England” engraving. The section and the hood of the cap are distinguished in high-lustre black.

The accompaniments on the Onoto Magna Classic blue & gold fittings with chasing are made in sterling silver that has been plated with 18 carat gold. The top of the cap features a finial button that shows the famous ONOTO cipher, and the clip has the distinctive 1930s logo-and-chevrons decoration. The single large cap band of the original Magna has been replaced by three narrower band, the middle one of which bears the hallmarks. The end of the pen’s barrel features a plain button, also in gold-plated sterling silver.

Onoto say that they feel you will not want to put this pen down, and its surface is indeed very warm and tactile. It is beautifully balanced, and the weight is such that it will not tire the hand even after a long period of writing. As produced, the pen weighs 25 grams when empty, but this can be increased to 32 grams upon request.

It is also possible to have this pen with an additional rollerball tip made of acrylic resin and sterling silver. This extra tip allows you to swap from fountain pen to rollerball simply by unscrewing one (as you would to replace the refill) and screw in the other. Note that this option is not compatible with the extra weight option. Please do not choose both.
